Gus Carey

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Gus Carey, the founder of Allergy Technologies, came into the business of bed bugs unconventionally. With roots in the financial services industry, Mr. Carey founded Allergy Technologies in 2001 with a commitment to developing innovative, effective, and consumer-friendly solutions and products to address environmental and healthcare issues in both the affordable housing and hospitality industries.

 

Before his work with Allergy Technologies, Mr. Carey was a Managing Director of W.P. Carey & Co. (NYSE: WPC) and Vice Chairman and President of four REITs sponsored by W. P. Carey, with assets totaling over $2 billion. He has also served as a loan officer in the North American Department of Kleinwort Benson Limited in London and was Controller at ETA Computer Services. Mr. Carey has an A.B. in Asian Studies from Amherst College, a Master’s degree in Management Studies from Oxford University, and a degree in Advanced Management from Harvard University. Mr. Carey is a former Chairman of the Corporate Advisory Council for the Financial Planning Association and the Investment Program Association in Washington. He has served on various Boards, including Miss Porter’s School, Springside School, the Highlands Mansion and Gardens, the Philadelphia Zoo, and the Ambler Campus of Temple University. Mr. Carey is active in fundraising and development for various charities, including Oxford University and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

 

He lives in Ambler, PA with his wife, the horticulturist, author, and lecturer, Jenny Rose Carey. They have three daughters and a grandson.

Joseph Latino

President

Joseph S. Latino has over 20 years of experience in the overlapping science and pest control fields. As President of Allergy Technologies, he is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Company, oversees the market expansion of the Company’s proprietary fabric-based technology product, ActiveGuard® Mattress Liners, and develops and operates the company’s ATAHC™ Program to control and prevent bed bug infestations in affordable housing communities and a variety of hospitality industry sectors.

 

Before joining Allergy Technologies in 2009, Mr. Latino led the Corporate Development function for Rambug Pest Control for 12 years, overseeing the development and expansion of the company’s client base. During his tenure, he established new service contracts with major property management companies, universities and colleges, and several brand-name retail chains. As a registered speaker for the New York State/New Jersey Departments of Environmental Control, Mr. Latino continues to develop and refine comprehensive and strategic bed bug surveillance, treatment, and post-treatment control programs.

 

Mr. Latino hails from the scientific world, having served as co-founder and CEO of AcquiSci, a privately held company whose mission was to identify, acquire and develop undervalued and promising emergent medical technologies. He has also acted as a consultant and Head of Research for LipidViro Tech, as an extramural consultant for Health Canada, and served as Director of Special Hematology/Oncology Laboratories at The Brooklyn Hospital in New York. 

 

Mr. Latino was doctorally trained as a biochemist at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York, where he earned a Master’s degree in Biochemistry. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry from Brooklyn College. He lives with his family in Blue Bell, PA, and enjoys cooking and container gardening.
